Ralph A. Clark
President and Chief Executive Officer
Ralph A. Clark brings 30 years of extensive corporate, financial and organizational leadership to his position as ShotSpotter’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, Clark was CEO of GuardianEdge Technologies Inc., where he led the transformation of the company into a leader in endpoint data protection and was instrumental in its acquisition by Symantec.
Prior to GuardianEdge, Clark served as Vice President of Finance for Adaptec through its acquisition of Snap Appliance, which he helped engineer. He was responsible for worldwide financial planning and analysis of Snap Appliance, serving as its Chief Financial Officer. Previous to his role at Snap Appliance, he worked at several venture capital backed start-up companies, leading several to successful acquisitions. Early in his career, Clark held executive sales and marketing roles at IBM; post business school he was an investment banker at Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.
Clark received the 2019 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award for Northern California. He is a former board member and chair of Pacific Community Ventures, former board member and chair of the Oakland Boys and Girls Club, former trustee and Vice-Chair of the Oakland Museum of California, is a member of Harvard Business School’s California Advisory Board and is a trustee of the American Conservatory Theater. He holds a B.S. in economics from the University of the Pacific and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Alan R. Stewart
Chief Financial Officer
Alan R. Stewart serves as Chief Financial Officer bringing a strong background in mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance to the company. Prior to joining ShotSpotter, Stewart served as Managing Director of RA Capital Advisors, LLC, a private investment bank specializing in mergers and acquisitions, private financings and restructurings. From 2004 to 2014, he served as Chief Financial Officer and then Chief Development Officer of Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc.
Since 2008, Mr. Stewart has served as President of FIT Advisors, LLC, a boutique consulting firm that offers temporary CFO services and served clients from start-up ventures to large private companies in vertical industries spanning government contracting, software, retail, healthcare IT, banking and Internet applications.
Stewart was selected as San Diego Business Journal’s CFO of the Year in 2007 and again in 2013. Both awards were in the large private business category. Prior to his business career, Stewart served over ten years as a submarine nuclear engineer in the United States Navy. He received his B.S. in Oceanography, with distinction, from the U.S. Naval Academy and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Senior Vice President, Products and Technology
Paul Ames, a 25-year technology veteran, joins ShotSpotter as Senior Vice President, Products and Technology, to lead the product development, software, hardware and operational engineering teams. Before ShotSpotter, he founded Deckchair Software LLC, to conceive, develop and market consumer facing mobile apps.
At Premier Retail Networks (PRN), a division of Technicolor, Ames served as Vice President of Product Development, responsible for driving development of a $100MM yearly revenue video advertising platform.
Paul started his career in the UK and has held senior technology leaderships roles across a broad range of industries including communications, financial, professional information and media. He received his Computer Science education at the Polytechnic of South Wales and post graduate studies in Electronic Sound at University College, Cardiff.
Gary T. Bunyard
Senior Vice President, Sales and Security
Gary Bunyard brings over 25 years of public safety technology sales, marketing, operations, and executive leadership experience to ShotSpotter. Today, Gary heads up the ShotSpotter public safety sales and customer success teams. Before joining ShotSpotter, he served as Vice President of Sales for TriTech Software Systems and Vice President of Sales and Chief Operating Officer for VisionAIR, Inc.
Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Sales, Chief Operating Officer, and subsequently, President and Chief Executive Officer at Tiburon Corporation. Bunyard started his career at IBM, where he held several sales and sales management positions.
Bunyard holds a B.B.A. in International Business and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Senior Vice President, Customer Support and Professional Services
Golzadeh has more than 18 years of leadership in operations, software implementation and professional services in a variety of industries. She has created, led and scaled high-performing teams and implemented effective, efficient, repeatable and consistent service delivery and operational processes.
Prior to joining ShotSpotter, Golzadeh was in charge of Operations and Professional Services for CentralSquare Technologies (formerly TriTech Software Systems), a leader in Public Safety software. The company delivers complex enterprise, mission critical solutions to thousands of law enforcement, fire and EMS agencies worldwide. During her 14 year tenure, she led consistent professional services revenue growth, drove operational excellence, continuous process improvement and high customer satisfaction while the Operations group experienced 10-fold growth.
Prior to CentralSquare, Golzadeh held leadership roles in banking, manufacturing, software, and higher education.
Golzadeh has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, an M.S. in Software Engineering, and an M.B.A.
Senior Vice President, Operations
Joe Hawkins brings over 25 years leadership experience and expertise in software product development, service delivery, and operational excellence from the digital media, internet/web services, commercial software, and telecommunications industries to ShotSpotter. Most recently, Hawkins was Vice President of Operations for Netpulse, the leading provider of personalized digital entertainment services to the fitness industry. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President of Operations & Media Solutions for Premier Retail Networks (PRN), where he oversaw network deployment & operations, media management and production engineering services, and customer & technical support for the world's largest out-of-home digital media network at retail, spanning 6500 locations across the U.S.
Before joining PRN, Hawkins was Director of QA & Engineering Services for Jeeves Solutions, the enterprise software division of Ask Jeeves (now Ask.com). In this role he led the development and release of JeevesOne, the company’s first packaged, enterprise software product for Global 2000 companies. Earlier roles included VP Engineering and Operations at Inquisit, an early web startup, and Director of Software Development at Knight-Ridder Information, Inc.
Hawkins started his career at Pacific Bell, where he held a number of positions including rollout of large computer systems across California and Nevada, leading software development teams in the area of network provisioning and maintenance. He also served as Technical Director of the Advanced Systems Group, leading applied R&D of knowledge-based systems and AI-related technologies.
Joe is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.
Senior Vice President, Marketing and Product Strategy
Sam Klepper has 25 years of leadership, marketing, and product experience working for innovative, fast-growing technology companies.
Klepper was most recently VP of Sales and Marketing at EnerAllies, a SaaS-centric IoT energy management platform, where he led new initiatives that resulted in significant revenue, pipeline and customer satisfaction increases. Previously, he was President and CEO of Lavante, a leader in SaaS supplier management solutions. As CMO for Redwood Systems, a lighting controls and IoT provider, he helped the company grow revenues 15x over two years. As CMO at eMeter, a smart grid enterprise software company, Klepper led the creation of a new product line and transformed company positioning prior to a successful acquisition by Siemens. Prior to eMeter, Klepper was a GM at Microsoft responsible for a $500M portfolio of online subscription businesses. He was also part of the team that grew WebTV Networks recurring revenues from $0 to $200M. At Intuit, he developed the strategy and led product teams to enter the SMB accounting (QuickBooks) and payroll markets that today generate over $2B in revenues. He began his career with Bain & Company.
Klepper has a bachelor’s degree in History and Science magna cum laude from Harvard University and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
Vice President, Customer Success
Regan Davis brings over 25 years of leadership in Customer Success, Strategic Partnerships and General Management. She now leads ShotSpotter’s world class Customer Success team ensuring customers get maximum value from our response, investigation and deterrence tools.
Prior to joining ShotSpotter, Regan was VP of Customer Success, Support and Professional Services for TapClicks, a leader in Marketing Technology. TapClicks offers a powerful and robust data analytics, reporting and workflow platform. Her focus was in building strong relationships with customers and ensuring their success.
Prior to TapClicks, she held executive roles in companies such as Yahoo and Media News Group and has been a frequent presenter at industry conferences. She is also a former board member and chair of Family Support Housing Board of Directors and has been active in the local community.
Regan holds a B.A. in Economics from UCLA.
Vice President, International Sales – Latin America
Leveraging 20 years of experience in global business development, market planning, and international law enforcement support, Jon Magin leads ShotSpotter’s international sales efforts.
Prior to joining ShotSpotter, Magin was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Decision Sciences, a provider of advanced security and contraband detection systems. Other career roles include President of Non-Lethal Solutions International, Inc., a leading provider of non-lethal weapons and products to law enforcement in 60 countries. He also marketed and developed for the U.S. military and police explosive disposal units across the nation, and robotic platforms for addressing threats from Large Vehicle Improvised Explosive Devices.
Jon began his career working in Latin America where he spent over 11 years living in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, focusing mostly on new business development for Monsanto Corporation’s leading-edge technologies. Under his leadership as Vice President of Global Sales, his division of the Monsanto Company headquartered in Chicago grew to $200 million in global revenues.
Magin holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of International Management in Arizona, and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agronomy from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo CA. He has also graduated from several Kellogg School of Management programs, including its Advanced Executive Program. Magin is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.
Jean Chay brings over 14 years of accounting and finance experience, including a strong background in mergers, acquisitions, SEC reporting and SOX compliance. Prior to joining ShotSpotter, Chay was the Director of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting at Blackhawk Network, where Chay led the SEC reporting team and was responsible for all technical accounting matters globally, including multiple M&A transactions and complex revenue arrangements.
Chay began her career in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she gained strong technical background in accounting (both US GAAP and IFRS) and SOX compliance. During her ten years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Chay was based in several global offices including San Francisco, Australia and Singapore and held a diverse portfolio of clients from various industries.
Chay received a Bachelor of Accountancy with honors from Nanyang Technological University and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Interim Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Hentges, has served as a director and advisor to several companies in the technology, financial services and healthcare sectors since 2018 following a time of advising and mentoring a variety of organizations and individuals from 2014 to 2017. Ms. Hentges currently serves on the boards of several private companies and organizations. Ms. Hentges previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Yapstone, Inc., a digital payments provider, from October 2012 to April 2014, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CBS Interactive, an internet media company, from August 2010 to September 2012, and Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of PayPal, Inc. from February 2003 to March 2010. Prior to those positions, Ms. Hentges worked in a variety of positions in finance and operations at Agilent Technologies, Inc., a diversified technology company, and Hewlett-Packard, Inc., an information technology company. Ms. Hentges holds a B.S. in Accounting from Arizona State University and qualified as a certified public accountant.
